Hello all !! Luckily,We have managed to escape the wrath of the ocean once again. What a scare that was!!! Cyclone Nivar as it was named. Did 'nivaranam' of the monsoon deficit Of this year to Namma Chennai,Well! of course with side effects of water logging , disrupting our normalcy. Anyways Some questions pop up like "Are these cyclonic phenomenon are natural ? or Do they arise due to some other causes like the nature's wrath ?",as we like to term these kind of disasters😉
Well, you may be surprised,if I say that in our Ayurveda which is a part of the Atharva Veda itself ,narrated by Lord Brahma himself have mentioned about cyclones.
Yes, indeed folks!!!!!
'Janapadodwamsa' जनपदोध्वंस is a term used in ayurveda which consists of two words -janapada जनपद = जनस्य लोकस्य पदं आश्रयस्थानं यत्र ।देशः।(श.क. द्रु)means The place where a group of people resides, it may be a colony, city, state or country itself and -dhwamsa ध्वंस =ध्वंसे + भावे घञ् नाश इत्यर्थः(श. क. द्रु)means destruction or derangements.
So, Janapadadwamsa means destruction or derangement of normal functions of a group of people or in simple words mass destruction or mass disruption of normalcy of people in a locality .
The cause of such destruction by ayurveda is said to be done by these 4 factors respectively
- The Air , The Water , The Land and The Seasonal changes of the particular locality.
ते तु खल्विमे भावाः सामान्या जनपदेषु भवन्ति; तद्यथा-वायुः, उदकं, देशः,काल इति। च.स.वि.३/६
And moreover specific features of each of these factor, when they are vitiated(functions abnormally or polluted) have been mentioned too!!! (Charaka samhita, vimana stanam- 3rd chapter)
It is well known that the cyclones have a circular movement when seen in the radar or satellite images and has a high speed of over 100km/ hr at the minimum and causes a very mass destruction by uprooting trees and buildings, damaging Crops and overflows the rivers which were constantly agitated.
Now in ayurvedic classics, it is such a wonder that all the above points have been clearly pointed out under the signs of vitiated air and land of the particular locality. Words like अतिभैरवम
(Atibhairavam), अतिपरस्परगति(Atiparasparagati) and अतिकुण्डलिनम्( Atikundaliam) have been mentioned meaning winds that are very strong, crossing on one another(blowing from different directions at the same time thereby seeming to overlap on each other) and circular winds respectively have been mentioned under signs of vitiated air are clearly seen in a cyclonic storm.
Furthermore words like अवपतितशुष्कनष्टशस्यम् (avapatita shushka nashta shasyam) meaning fallen dried and damaged crops; शश्वत् क्षुभितोदीर्णसलिलाश्रयम् (shashvat kshubhita udeerna salila ashayam) meaning agitated and overflowing waterbodies have been mentioned under signs of vitiated land .
Surprising isn't it?
Yea!
we don't need someone to tell that these causes destruction to the normal life of people, but whether is it natural for such a thing to happen!!?
Well ,well.. the answer is interesting and is surprisingly no!. A BIG NO! ! !.
It is said by Athreya maharishi that, as the adharma or unrighteousness grows among the humans, these kinds of phenomenons will keep on happening and will keep on getting worse only.
Yes! I think so, there is mostly and only unrighteousness around us prevailing either secretly or nakedly conquering the fruits of our deeds.I will now bid you goodbye for now with a thought to think that all these disasters have to be either - nature made or manmade but the funny thing is every disaster is only man made , in a different sense ,"The one we still fail to understand with our height of ego".
तयोर्योनिः प्रज्ञापराध एव।
Prasannatatvam🙏
